KARAKTERISTIK MALOKLUSI GIGI ANTERIOR DENGAN STATUS PSIKOSOSIAL REMAJA AWAL SMPN YOGYAKARTA TAHUN 2013
Abstract
Malocclusion is the shape of the upper and lower jaw relationship
that deviates from the standard form which is accepted
as a normal form. The problem that often arises is
the state of the anterior teeth is irregular as the anterior
teeth crowding, gaps anterior teeth, and the protrusion of
the anterior teeth. Characteristics such as these cause
malocclusion sufferers feel self-conscious and uncomfortable
with her appearance, and will directly relate to the
psychosocial status of a person. This reality occurs in susceptible
adolescents especially in adolescents who are at
a state of psychosocial transition at age 12-15 years. Type
of malocclusion of the anterior teeth experienced by students
SMPN Yogyakarta ie anterior teeth crowding, gaps,
and protrusion. These three characteristics of malocclusion
students will be associated with psychosocial status.
This study aims to determine the relationship of the
anterior teeth malocclusion characteristics with early adolescent
psychosocial status of SMPN Yogyakarta. Type of
research is observational. The study subjects came from
students of SMPN Yogyakarta as many as 40 people were
taken by random sampling technique were then divided
into three groups consisting of anterior dental malocclusion
characteristics of 20 people (50%) with anterior tooth
crowding, 11 people (27.5%) the anterior teeth gaps / diastema,
and 9 people (12.5%) with protrusion of the anterior
teeth. The results of this study were obtained by questionnaires
PIDAQ (Psychosocial Impact of Dental Aesthetic
Question) by study subjects and then the data is processed
with SPSS chi-square test (x2) the value of significance (p)
= 0.023, which means the value of (p) <0.05 thus Ho rejected
and Ha is accepted.
The conclusion can be drawn that there is a statistically
significant relationship between the characteristics of malocclusion
of the anterior teeth with adolescent psychosocial
status of SMPN Yogyakarta.
