Abstract
The need for care orthodonty lately increasing as more
and more patients are aware of the condition of the teeth
and teeth orthodonty decided to seek treatment as a
therapy that can restore the balance of the structure and
function of the efficiency of the aesthetic harmony of the
patient . The use of fixed orthodonty can affect oral hygiene
and accumulation . During orthodonty treatment
progresses, the formation of plaque , calculus , and gingivitis
white spot lesions are things that can not be avoided
especially when the patient is very bad oral hygiene. This
research aims to determine the correlation between the
time of using fixed orthodonty with dental and oral hygiene
status of the patient . Observational study with cross sectional
design . This research is doing in 2013 . The location
of research is at Dental Clinic Ibnu Sina with the time
of using Fixed Orthodonty tools at least 3 months and subjects
of research age between 15th – 45 th years. The study
was conducted by measuring the value of oral hygiene
scores of patients with a long record OHIS and use of
tools orthodonty research subjects . Analyzis datas use
the statistic test bivariat spearman Rho with significancy
level = 0,05. There was no significant correlation between
duration of use fixed orthodonty with dental and oral hygiene
status, with a significance level of 0.164 was obtained
> 0.05. The results showed the use of the old appliance
fixed orthodonti the longest was 60 months and the
criteria of Dental and Oral Health Status ( OHIS ) the most
medium with total 18 persons.
