LAMA PERENDAMAN TUMPATAN SEMENTARA BAHAN CAVIT DAN FLETCHER DALAM SALIVA BUATAN TERHADAP KEKUATAN TEKAN
Abstract
Background: The appropriate temporary fillings may become
an important factor to determines the success or
failure of dental care. Temporaryfillingmaterialscould be
usefultoprevent theingress of liquids, microorganismsandother
impuritiesintocavity. It could alsoprevented
the release ofdrugswhich are placedinthe pulp
chamberandroot canalsystem. Compressive strength is
an important trait in the fillings, especially in the process of
mastication. If the received load is bigger than the strength
of fillings then the fillings will be broken. The damaged or
broken fillings ahead of time can interfere with patients
and hamper the objectives to be achieved.
Objective: To determine the effect long time soaking of the
temporary filling material Cavit and fletcher in artificial saliva
for compressive strength.
Methods: The experimental laboratories research with
quota technique sampling, totaling 24 samples. The research
was conducted from August to September 2013 in
the Faculty of Materials Laboratory Department of Mechanical
and Industrial Engineering Gajah Mada University. The
cylindrical samples (discs) with a height of 6 mm and a
diameter of 4 mm is stored in an incubator at 37°C. Temporary
filling materials of cavit and fletcher compressive
strength were measured by Universal Testing Machine tool
after soaking for 1 hour, 1 day, 3 days and 7 days in artificial
saliva.
Results: Significance values of 0.001 and 0.027 (p < 0.05),
so there is the effect long time soaking of the temporary
filling material Cavit and fletcher in artificial saliva for compressive
strength.
Conclusion: The longer soaking of the temporary filling
material Cavit in artificial saliva compressive strength getting
better, the maximum compressive strength in soaking
for 3 days, after 3 days of compressive strength decreased.
The longer soaking of the temporary filling material Fletcher
in artificial saliva compressive strength decreased, the
maximum compressive strength in soaking for 1 hour.
The compressive strength of materials Cavit is better than
Fletcher.
