Jurnal Kesehatan Pengabdian Masyarakat (JKPM) is an open-access, peer-reviewed scholarly journal owned and managed by the Pusat Penelitian dan Pengabdian Masyarakat (PPPM), Poltekkes Kemenkes Yogyakarta, Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia. The journal serves as a scholarly platform for disseminating evidence-based knowledge, innovations, experiences, and best practices in community health and community engagement.

JKPM focuses on the application and development of health sciences and related disciplines through community engagement activities that address health problems, community needs, and public health priorities. The journal welcomes scholarly contributions that demonstrate meaningful engagement with communities and provide evidence of outcomes, impacts, innovation, applicability, or sustainability.

Focus and Scope

JKPM covers a broad range of topics related to health-oriented community engagement, including but not limited to:

• health promotion and disease prevention;

• maternal, neonatal, child, and reproductive health;

• nutrition and community nutrition interventions;

• environmental and occupational health;

• communicable and non-communicable disease prevention and control;

• nursing, midwifery, and allied health services;

• medical laboratory and biomedical health services;

• health information management and health information technology;

• health education and community empowerment;

• community-based health interventions;

• digital health and health information systems;

• health service quality improvement;

• public health and primary health care;

• health literacy and behavioral interventions;

• disaster and emergency health preparedness;

• innovations in community health services; and

• other interdisciplinary approaches that contribute to the improvement of individual, family, and community health.

The journal particularly encourages manuscripts that clearly demonstrate the relationship between identified community needs, the intervention or solution implemented, community participation, measurable outcomes, and the potential for sustainability or wider application.

Target Readership

JKPM is intended for academics, researchers, health professionals, community health practitioners, students, policymakers, managers of health services, community organizations, and other stakeholders interested in evidence-based approaches to improving community health and health services.

Article Types

JKPM primarily publishes scholarly articles reporting community engagement and community service activities based on scientific and systematic approaches. Manuscripts should clearly describe the background and community needs, objectives, methods or intervention, implementation process, results or outcomes, discussion, and implications of the activities.

Manuscripts must be original, must not have been published previously, and must not be simultaneously submitted or under consideration for publication in another journal.

Peer Review

JKPM applies a double-blind peer-review process. Each eligible manuscript is evaluated independently by three reviewers with relevant expertise. The identities of authors and reviewers are concealed from each other throughout the review process.

The peer-review and editorial process generally takes approximately 2–3 months, depending on reviewer availability, manuscript complexity, revision requirements, and other editorial circumstances. This timeframe is an estimate and does not constitute a guarantee of acceptance or publication.

Publication Schedule

JKPM is published twice a year, in May and November.

For the May issue, manuscripts should be submitted no later than 25 April, while manuscripts intended for the November issue should be submitted no later than 25 October. Authors are encouraged to submit manuscripts as early as possible because submission deadlines do not guarantee acceptance or publication in the corresponding issue.

Open Access

JKPM provides immediate and unrestricted open access to all published articles. Readers can access, read, download, and use published content without registration, subscription, or payment.

Copyright and Licensing

Copyright of published articles remains with the author(s). Authors grant JKPM the right of first publication.

Published articles are distributed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license. This license permits users to share, copy, redistribute, adapt, and reuse the published work, including for commercial purposes, provided that appropriate attribution is given to the original author(s) and source.

Author Fees

JKPM currently does not charge authors any fees for manuscript submission, peer review, editorial processing, or publication. There are no submission fees, Article Processing Charges (APCs), publication fees, or other mandatory author charges.

The absence of author fees does not influence editorial decisions, peer-review outcomes, or the selection of manuscripts for publication.

Publication Ethics

JKPM is committed to maintaining high standards of publication ethics and scholarly integrity. The journal follows recognized principles of responsible scholarly publishing and refers to relevant guidance from the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and other applicable standards.

The journal has policies addressing authorship and contributorship, conflicts of interest, plagiarism, redundant and duplicate publication, research misconduct, ethical oversight, data sharing, intellectual property, complaints and appeals, corrections, retractions, and post-publication discussions.

Ownership and Management

JKPM is owned and managed by the Pusat Penelitian dan Pengabdian Masyarakat (PPPM), Poltekkes Kemenkes Yogyakarta, Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia.

The Editorial Board, led by the Editor-in-Chief, is responsible for editorial management, peer-review coordination, and editorial decision-making. Editorial decisions are made independently on the basis of academic quality, relevance, originality, ethical standards, peer-review results, and the journal's policies.

Institutional support and journal ownership do not influence editorial decisions.

Indexing and Discoverability

JKPM is currently indexed in Garuda and Google Scholar, supporting the discoverability and dissemination of published scholarly content.
