Plagiarism Policy

Sanitasi: Jurnal Kesehatan Lingkungan is committed to maintaining academic integrity and preventing all forms of plagiarism and unethical publication practices. All submitted manuscripts are subject to plagiarism screening before entering the peer-review process and/or before publication.

Plagiarism is considered a serious violation of publication ethics. Authors are responsible for ensuring that their manuscripts contain original work and properly acknowledge all sources, ideas, data, statements, and materials obtained from other publications.

Forms of Plagiarism

Plagiarism includes, but is not limited to, the following practices:

  • Using words, phrases, sentences, data, or information from other sources without providing appropriate citations and acknowledging the original source.
  • Copying or reproducing substantial parts of another author's work without proper attribution.
  • Using ideas, concepts, opinions, theories, methods, or findings from other sources without appropriate acknowledgment.
  • Paraphrasing or rewriting the words, ideas, or arguments of other authors without providing proper citation.
  • Presenting another person's scientific work, research results, manuscript, or publication as one's own work without appropriate acknowledgment.
  • Submitting the same manuscript or substantially similar work that has been published elsewhere without proper disclosure.

Plagiarism Prevention

Sanitasi: Jurnal Kesehatan Lingkungan conducts plagiarism screening for all submitted manuscripts using plagiarism detection software, including Turnitin.

Manuscripts with excessive similarity or indications of plagiarism will be carefully evaluated by the Editorial Board. The journal considers similarity reports as supporting evidence in assessing originality and does not rely solely on similarity percentages.

As a general guideline, manuscripts accepted for publication should have an acceptable similarity level, generally not exceeding 20%, excluding properly cited references and commonly used scientific terms.

Manuscripts identified as containing plagiarism or significant unethical similarities may be rejected during the editorial process.

Plagiarism Sanctions

If plagiarism or other forms of academic misconduct are identified, Sanitasi: Jurnal Kesehatan Lingkungan may take appropriate actions according to the severity of the violation and in accordance with COPE recommendations.

Possible actions include:

  • Request for clarification and correction from the authors;
  • Formal warning to the authors and affiliated institution when necessary;
  • Rejection of the submitted manuscript;
  • Withdrawal or retraction of published articles;
  • Cancellation of publication;
  • Notification to relevant institutions or authorities in serious cases.
