Abstract: The Tambakrigadung landfill in Tikung District, Lamongan Regency, East Java, is facing issues of waste capacity and microplastic contamination. This study evaluates the effectiveness of EM4 biostimulation in reducing microplastic levels in the soil at this landfill. EM4 was used at concentrations of 100, 200, and 300 µL to degrade three types of microplastics (fiber, fragment, and film). Samples were processed through drying, density separation with NaCl, and organic matter destruction using Wet Peroxide Oxidation (WPO). Results showed that EM4 increased microplastic degradation compared to the control. At a concentration of 100 µL, fiber degradation reached 90%, fragment 95%, and film 95%. At 200 µL, fiber degradation decreased to 50%, while fragment and film remained high at 70% and 90%. At 300 µL, all types of microplastics showed nearly optimal degradation, reaching 95%. EM4 is effective in enhancing microplastic degradation in the soil at the Tambakrigadung landfill, with the optimal concentration at 300 µL.
