Efektivitas pengolahan limbah cair tempe dengan sedimentasi dan fitoremediasi tanaman kayu apu (Pista Stratiotes L.)

Industri tempe di Karang Nongko RT 08, Panggungharjo, Sewon, Bantul, DIY masih membuang limbah cair tempe langsung ke sungai. Limbah tersebut mengandung BOD 686,8 mg/L, COD 15.760 mg/L, dan TSS 438 mg/L yang belum memenuhi standar Perda DIY No. 7 Tahun 2016. Limbah cair tempe diolah dengan sedimentasi dan fitoremediasi tanaman kayu apu untuk menurunkan kadar BOD, COD, dan TSS. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas sedimentasi dan fitoremediasi tanaman kayu apu dalam memperbaiki kualitas limbah cair tempe. Jenis penelitian ini adalah true experiment. Pengolahan limbah cair tempe dengan debit 300 ml/menit, dialirkan ke bak sedimentasi dengan waktu kontak 2,5 jam dan bak fitoremediasi kayu apu (2.200 gram) dengan waktu kontak 24 jam. Rata-rata penurunan hasil uji pada parameter BOD, COD, dan TSS belum memenuhi baku mutu limbah industri tempe pada Perda DIY No. 7 Tahun 2016. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa pengolahan sedimentasi dan fitoremediasi tanaman kayu apu (Pistia stratiotes L.) mampu menurunan kadar BOD sebesar 35,33%, COD sebesar 41,94%, dan TSS sebesar 80,21%, namun pengolahan tersebut belum efektif dalam memperbaiki kualitas limbah cair tempe.
Abstract: The tempe industry in Karang Nongko RT 08, Panggungharjo, Sewon, Bantul, DIY still dispose tempe wastewater directly into the river. These waste contains BOD 686,8 mg/L, COD 15.760 mg/L, dan TSS 438 mg/L which has not fulfilled standard of Regional Regulation of Yogyakarta Special Region Number 7 in the year 2016. Tempe wastewater processed by sedimentation and phytoremediation of kayu apu to reduce BOD, COD, and TSS levels. The aim of this research is to knowing the effectiveness of sedimentation and phytoremediation kayu apu in improving the quality of tempe wastewater. This type of research is a true experiment. Tempe wastewater treatment with the flow is 300 ml/minute, flowed into a sedimentation tank with the detention time of 2,5 hours dan a phytoremediation tank of kayu apu (2.200 grams) with the detention time of 24 hours. The average decrease test results in the parameters of BOD, COD, and TSS have not met the quality standard requirements of Regional Regulation of Yogyakarta Special Region Number 7 in the year 2016. Based on the results of the researchs, it can be concluded that sedimentation and phytoremediation of kayu apu treatment able to reduce BOD level of 35.33%, COD by 41.94%, and TSS by 80.21%, but the treatment have not been effective in improving the quality of tempe wastewater.
